The Main Frames
November 2008
So,
having taken the
plunge, placed my
order and paid my deposit I sat back and impatiently waited. After a few weeks, I got the eagerly
anticipated call
from
Andy's wife,
Jayne, to say that kit number one was on its way. The next
day an
extremely well wrapped and taped(!) heavy package arrived.

This
first kit comprised the two main side frames,
front and rear buffer beams, frame stays, lots of brackets and screws
etc, together
with the first part of the construction manual.

Apart from the screw threads in the front stay being slightly too short, assembly
was quite straightforward. All that was required was rounding off the sharp edges, deburring, sanding the whole thing to provide a
key for future painting, and giving everything a good clean up.

After
assembly, it now looks like this.
(No that isn't the kitchen table, this is my garage.)

The last instruction in the manual is not to start painting yet but to wait for kit 2.
